About the case
LinkedIn sounds are different now. With over a billion people on the platform daily, the sounds we designed are among the most-heard UX sounds in the world. Notification tones, interaction cues, and attention signals built to work across every device, in every environment.
UX sound is functional branding. A well-designed ux-sound system tells users what just happened (supports user experience on the app), reinforces platform identity and, heard hundreds of times a day, becomes as recognizable as any visual mark.
UX Design Collaboration
Working directly with LinkedIn's product and design teams, we mapped the full interaction landscape. Which moments needed sound, which didn't, and how each sound would need to behave alongside the others.
The result is 13 UX sounds designed as a coherent system. Each built around its function: notification, confirmation, alert, delight. With a consistent timbral identity running through the whole family, every sound feels unmistakably LinkedIn whether heard alone or in sequence. Designed for daily repetition: clear on first listen, never fatiguing on the thousandth.

Every sound in a UX system carries two things at once: what it means and what it feels like. Semantics, the logic of pitch, rhythm, and sequence, tells the user what is happening. Timbre gives that signal a voice, a color, an identity that belongs to this product and no other.
We build UX sound languages using Soundbricks, our proprietary design tool. It lets us compose, test, and refine a full sound system as a whole. Not sound by sound, but as a family with its own grammar.
