Robinhood, known for its user-friendly approach to stock trading, wanted to elevate the trading experience on their new Legend platform by incorporating sound. Recognizing that every moment matters in the fast-paced world of trading, we partnered with Robinhood to design a tailored set of UX sounds that enhance usability and emotional engagement. The goal was to create auditory cues that would help users make informed, swift decisions while building a deeper connection with the platform.

The Process

Our approach was driven by the need for immediate and intuitive feedback in the trading environment. We began by analyzing key user interactions within the platform, identifying moments where sound could provide useful feedback. From confirming a successful trade to signaling important market updates, every sound was meticulously crafted to reduce cognitive load and keep users engaged without distraction. We struck a balance between function and emotion, ensuring that the auditory experience was both informative and satisfying.

The Creative Concept

Sound, in the context of trading, isn't just about communication—it's about creating an emotional bond with the user. Our creative concept revolved around crafting sounds that not only served a functional purpose but also enhanced the user's sense of success, confidence and control. Simple "clicks" marked completed actions, while more distinct tones emphasized critical updates or changes. These carefully chosen sounds create an intuitive, rewarding experience, reinforcing Robinhood's brand and building user loyalty with every trade. Ultimately, we set out to prove that sound isn’t just something you hear—it’s something you feel.
